Lights, Camera, Kitchen!

Lights, Camera, Kitchen!

Local Couple Readies for Television Debut

HGTV's acclaimed Bang For Your Buck is coming to the Valley. Featured on "Phoenix Kitchens" will be the kitchen that Joe and Terri Fortuna created with products from their company.

Owners of The Mexican Tile and Stone Company, the couple impressed HGTV staff with their use of tiles to transform their kitchen. The vertical surfaces, including the fireplace and murals, utilize hand-painted tiles imported from Mexico. Terri Fortuna explains, "We wanted to show how our tiles look in a real-life application. This kitchen is all about the atmosphere because it's the heart of our home. The fireplace and the casual-but-elegant eating area make a formal dining room unnecessary. The patio is a continuation of the kitchen and dining area, so the space is ideal for entertaining."

Instead of granite countertops, the Fortunas selected Seneca handmade tiles secured with an epoxy grout. The commercially-rated tile looks handmade, but sustains its beauty. Joe Fortuna observes, "The glaze won't wear out, and the epoxy doesn't mold and is stain resistant. These counters will look wonderful for a very long time."

The dramatic cabinets were created by Bob Busch, J&B Cabinets (www.jbcab.com), and complement the rustic impact of the space.

The Mexican Tile and Stone Company has been in operation for more than 25 years. To learn more about their services and products, call 602-954-6272, or visit www.mexicantileandstone.com.
