Remodel mania

In today’s unpredictable real estate market, many homeowners are finding more value in remodeling rather than trying to sell their homes.
The owners of The Mexican Tile and Stone Company located in Phoenix and Tucson, got to work on gutting their 25- year old Moon Valley home down to its frame in March 2008. They envisioned a remodel utilizing the wide assortment of products available in their own stores, demonstrating their versatility.
“The versatility of our company’s products won’t cease to amaze,” Joe Fortuna remarks about his home’s unique looks. “We varied our patterns and designs to create an individual look.” Each room has been artistically redesigned with all Mexican Tile and stone products.
“Rather than a single theme, we’ve used aspects of different styles to invent a new ensemble,” Fortuna remarks.
To Director of Prados Design, Robert Peddle, a subsidiary of Mexican Tile and Stone, it seemed only fitting to use a mixture of in-store products, ranging from stone, hand-painted tiles, cement and glazed and unglazed tiles, to give each room a distinct look. One room was designed using old-style stone, creating a romantic mood, while one of the master suites utilizes travertine with inlayed marble. The kitchen impressively displays a hand-molded, domestic tile that wears like iron. This room offers a more casual environment.
The partnership between Mexican Tile and Stone and Prados Design is functional in helping customers to facilitate the entire remodeling process. This ranges from product shopping to design, and even finding a licensed contractor all while maintaining an economical budget.
“Prados gives a realistic picture of what a project in completion will cost,” Fortuna explains. “When finished, we can be within $200 to $300 of a project’s estimate.”
Additionally, the exterior of the home was recreated. Stone is used around the pool adding a variety of range and depth in their design. The pool also includes a picturesque mural. The front door features stacked cantera stone in the entryway alongside the door, giving grandeur, and regal appearance, like that of a castle.
“The objective of this remodel was to show people how you can mix and match all of our tiles to create a unique theme,” Fortuna said.
There are also plenty of environmental and economical benefits to installing stone and tile materials over other textiles such as carpet or wood.
Technological advances have increased the durability of these products and allow Mexican tile and stone to be quarried without danger or the use of chemicals.
The Fortuna’s home is to be utilized, by appointment, as a showcase for people to view the wide range of Mexican tile and stone products and the synergy of Prados Design.
In addition, Mexican Tile and Stone Co. has just recently remodeled its new showcase house at 2036 W. Greenway Road, Phoenix, AZ, 85023. Both homes really show how exciting Mexican tile and stone can be, and how it all can work for you. The home at 2036 W. Greenway Road, (I-17 and Greenway Road), will be open Monday through Friday 8-5 and Saturday 9-4.
The activities start June 1, 2009. The Greenway home is open to the public and for contractors and designers to bring clients. Mexican Tile and Stone will be closing its 2222 E. Thomas Road location 5-31-2009. Join Mexican Tile and Stone in its new beginning and excitement.
